Jospong Group Continues Major Investment in Ghana’s Waste Management Infrastructure
Jospong Group
The Jospong Group of Companies, through its Environment and Sanitation businesses, continues to invest in infrastructure and technology aimed at strengthening Ghana’s waste management system and improving environmental sanitation.
Over the years, the Group has developed and supported a network of waste treatment and sanitation facilities designed to improve the collection, treatment, recovery and responsible disposal of waste.
The Group has previously reported the establishment of more than 50 waste treatment facilities across Ghana, alongside waste transfer stations and specialised medical waste treatment facilities.
These investments form part of a broader strategy to move Ghana’s waste management system beyond disposal and towards treatment, recycling, recovery and resource utilisation.
Among the infrastructure developed through the Group’s environmental sanitation operations are integrated waste recycling and composting facilities, liquid waste treatment plants, waste transfer stations and medical waste treatment facilities.
The transformation of the former Lavender Hill site in Accra into a modern liquid waste treatment facility represents one example of the Group’s approach to addressing longstanding sanitation challenges through infrastructure investment.
The Group has also invested in facilities such as the Kumasi Compost and Recycling Plant, which was established to receive and treat municipal solid waste generated within the Kumasi Metropolis and adjoining districts.
Jospong Group has continued to emphasise the importance of modern waste infrastructure as Ghana’s population grows and urbanisation increases.
The Group’s approach increasingly focuses on recovering value from waste through composting, recycling and other treatment processes while reducing the environmental and public-health risks associated with poorly managed waste.
In addition to infrastructure, the Group has invested in modern equipment, waste collection systems, technical expertise and human-resource development across the sanitation value chain.
The Group’s waste management investments are also creating opportunities for employment and enterprise, particularly among young people working in collection, transportation, recycling, equipment operation and related services.
Jospong Group remains committed to working with government, local authorities, communities, development partners and private-sector stakeholders to strengthen Ghana’s environmental sanitation system.
The Group believes that sustainable waste management requires continued investment, innovation, enforcement, public education and shared responsibility.
Through its ongoing infrastructure and technology investments, Jospong Group will continue supporting efforts to build cleaner, healthier and more resilient communities across Ghana.
